“A Spirit or Holy Spirit?” by Dr.J.

2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”

My Jesus! We blame the spirit for a whole lot in the body of Christ. Flesh can be tricky. We can desire something so badly in our flesh that our flesh will deceive us into thinking that our spirit is in agreement with what we want.

“Did Holy Spirit say for me to post that, say that, do that, or think that or was that really my flesh? Did Holy Spirit say go back to her, leave her, divorce her or did my flesh say that? Am I truly operating in alignment with Jesus Christ in me or does He oppose of my response? Did Holy Spirit say leave, stay, move, transfer, speak, or be silent or did my flesh just catch hold to the first sign that satisfied what it wants?”

See we can want to act in our flesh so badly that the flesh will make us think our spirit caught hold to something. Have you ever seen a post in social media, a video, or a commercial and said, “That’s a sign from the Lord? That was for me?” Was it?

Test every spirit, even your own, to see if it is from God. Some of the things we’re attributing to our spirit is really and truly rooted in our fleshly desires. Flesh can act as an imposter of Holy Spirit- that’s the devil’s specialty, to deceive. Be willing to test it out. That’s the only way we can grow and know. “Reel Me In” by Dr.J.

Did you get off track? That’s ok.

Holy Spirit reel us back in. We’ve gotten on a flesh track and we need to get back to the spirit. We’ve lingered in the flesh long enough. Holy Spirit convict us, correct us, reveal to us the error of our ways and get us back on track. We’ve been questioning God in our heads and hearts. We’ve allowed the spirit of depression to come on us through open portals of doubt and dismay. We’ve focused our minds on our issues instead of casting down thoughts that didn’t align with the Word. Now we’re all of track. Reel us back in now in the name of Jesus. Dr.J.

“The Voice of the Holy Spirit” by Dr.J.

Can you discern the voice of the Holy Spirit? Do you know when Holy Spirit is saying “no” opposed to the devil. It is our “natural” response to “no situations” to presume that the devil is blocking us. What Holy Spirit revealed to me about Paul is that Paul knew the distinct difference between the Holy Spirit blocking him and the devil blocking him.
Did the devil say “no” to that man, job, relationship, promotion, raise, transfer, move, ministry, preaching engagement, prayer, or your next action or was that Holy Spirit? Sometimes God has other plans for you. Sometimes He just wants you to be still. Sometimes God wants you to listen. Where God leads you will be for the kingdom. So wait until you’re spiritually clear before you act.
Paul was so in tune with Holy Spirit that he got somewhere and sat down. He waited. God gave him a vision of exactly where He wanted Paul to go next. The problem with us is that our vision is sometimes spiritually impaired. We see what we want to see. My prayer is for God to help us know the difference between a God ordained block and a devil orchestrated delay. God is capable of telling us our next move. Get in tune with Holy Spirit so you can see. Dr.J.

Acts 16:6-10 NIV “Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”

“Why is My Life in Disarray?” by Dr.J.

Clutter, bills and finances, and disorder and disarray that we vowed to get straight and keep straight…we have to let God fix it now. When we really look at every aspect of our lives in which there is chaos and disarray, we can conclude that it is a relationship deficiency.

Why am I still overspending?
Why are my bills still past due and out of order?
Why am I still not managing my time?
Why am I still too tired to cook and clean and take care of the household?
Why am I still an unorganized mess?
Why am I overwhelmed?
Why? Why? Why?

Don’t panic. Pray. Let God heal you in your areas of weakness. Get closer to God. Take time to study and read His Word. Pray. The closer we are to Him, every area of our lives begins to improve. We begin to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. We listen to and follow the counsel of the Spirit. When God becomes the priority then everything else begins to fall into place. God even brings order to our disorderly lives. Reflect on this today. Dr.J.

“Go Slowly” by Dr.J.

Take this season of relationships (i.e., intimate, friendships, work, business, all other relationships) slowly. You’ve been operating in your flesh in your relationships. You’ve jumped in head first and gotten several concussions. You’ve allowed all kinds of people in your personal space and gotten in theirs…too quickly. The Holy Spirit says slow down. Be led by the Spirit. God hasn’t instructed you to give your soul in exchange for love. Giving away everything that you have with the wrong motives in your heart (to receive love in return) is not of God. You want love so badly that you’re trying to buy it with your time, space, money, body, and any other resource you have.

Slow down. Let God lead you every step of the way in these relationships this season. Some may only be for a season. Some may only be to teach you, agitate you, and help get you to the next spiritual level. Some are straight from the enemy. Every relationship won’t be for a lifetime. But in this lifetime, listen to the Holy Spirit about your relationships. Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves as there are some wolves in sheep clothing in this world. Dr.J.

“Flesh Versus Spirit” by Dr.J.

When your flesh gets weak, get in the spirit immediately. When you operate in the spirit, you do, say, and think spiritual things. You allow the spirit to lead you away from the flesh and into the presence of God. Your actions are based on God’s principles in the spirit. The flesh will have you doing, saying, and thinking what the world prescribes. You don’t have to succumb to the flesh.

Don’t linger in the flesh today. Be led by God’s Holy Spirit.
In the flesh, you can’t receive the miracles God is about to do in your life because flesh doesn’t understand spiritual things. When you feel your faith wavering, you are in the flesh. Get in the spirit.

In the flesh you begin to believe that “this is all life has to offer” and “I guess this is it for my life.” In the spirit you are able to be content where God has you but you have faith that your greater, your due season, your new thing is coming. Get in the spirit.

The flesh makes you feel depressed, sad, lonely, anxious, and say “O woe is me.” When you operate in the spirit, you have a steadfast mind and therefore you have the peace of God. When you begin to feel anxious or any fleshly feeling, you pray and thank God for what you have and tell Him what you need. Then His peace that surpasses all understanding transcends your being. Get in the spirit.

The flesh makes you think that if you shop, drink, light up, sex up, or shoot up you will feel better and be satisfied. In the spirit, your desire is to please God. In the spirit you know and understand that your body is God’s temple. In the spirit you know that God and sin cannot indwell you at the same time. You never want to be void of God when you’re in the spirit. Get in the spirit.

The flesh will have you paranoid thinking everyone is out to get you. The flesh will have you on the defense. The flesh will have you seeking revenge. The spirit rests in the Vindicator. In the spirit you know you wrestle not against flesh and blood. In the spirit you pray for those who mistreat you. Get in the spirit.

The flesh makes you think you have the power to make something happen for yourself. The flesh makes you chase paper, degrees, and worldly knowledge. The flesh has you hustling for everything except God. The spirit knows you set your mind on things above, heavenly things. In the spirit, you humble yourself and allow God to elevate you. Get in the spirit. Dr.J. #fleshversusspirit

“My Spiritual Momentum” by Dr.J.

Lord don’t let me lose my spiritual momentum. We have a great thing going on, me and You Lord. I hear when You whisper. I’m convicted when my flesh wants to show out. You give me a timely Word for Your people. You bless me, You cover me and You protect me from foolishness and plots of the enemy. You orchestrate divine encounters, opportunities, and actions and I follow Your lead. You let me know when seasons are over so that I don’t outstay my welcome.

Prophecy from my son Jaylen: Jaylen said that Newton’s cradle can be related to my relationship with God. He said that [my spirit] is the sphere on the end and when I initiate the relationship with God through the release of praise, [prayer, fasting, praising, and obedience and faith] it sends a force of spiritual energy through me to God the Father, God  the Son, and God the Holy  Spirit. He said that eventually I will have to release the ball of energy again because the flow will stop if I don’t release my praise. He said that lets me know that for my [momentum] to continue, I have to continue to release praise and glory to God.

Jesus! Then the Holy Spirit gave me this. The sphere on the other end of the cradle represents every aspect of the natural world that concerns me. The natural events in my life collide with the energy from the triune God and continues to send energy of blessings and divine alignment back to me through the triune God.

Lord, we’re great together. As a matter of fact, we are a strong force together as we move rapidly toward my destiny and my destiny impacts my life and our relationship. But as my son said, I have a huge responsibility in my spiritual momentum. I must continue to lift Him up and release “me” to Him. Lord, I don’t ever want to lose our spiritual momentum. It drives me closer to You faster. It impacts the events leading to my destiny and in my life. Stay with me God. I need You. I need Your presence. I need the Holy Spirit to maintain our spiritual momentum. Dr.J.

“Destiny or Distractions?” by Dr.J.

Distractions are intended to delay you from and ultimately deny your entrance into your destiny. The thing about distractions is they sometimes deceitfully appear to be people or courses of events leading to or a part of your destiny. That is why it is imperative that we have the Spirit who knows the mind of God. That is why it is essential that we are transformed by the renewing of our mind so that then we will know the pleasing perfect will of God. Ask God to help you discern between distractions and destiny. Dr.J.

“He is Seducing You” by Dr.J.

“Look Into My Eyes:” Are we being seduced?

Seducton is “the process of deliberately enticing a person; to lead astray.” To seduce is “to lure or entice, particularly away from obligations or proper behavior.” Seduction is not limited to sexual temptation. The enemy is the great seducer and he is seducing you!

God is saying to us today to be careful of the enemy’s attempts to “seduce” us and lead us away from His (God’s) perfect plan. If God has already told us that He is going to promote us and deliver us in our finances and we continually have thoughts of doubt that He is going to do it, the enemy is seducing us in our faith. If God has already corrected us in behaviors that contradict who He called us to be (gossiping at work, not honoring our supervisor, etc.) and we struggle daily with these same behaviors, the enemy is seducing us in our obedience. If God has told us to trust Him in our relationships or our marriages and we continue to look for signs of infidelity or try to change our mate on our own, the enemy is seducing us in the areas of pride and patience.

The enemy is subtle! He has studied us and knows our weaknesses. He prowls around looking for opportunities to “seduce” us! Stop letting the enemy sucker punch us with his deceitful, seductive subtleties! God says keep our minds on heavenly things and not earthly things! Focus on Him! The moment we take our minds off Him, the enemy is chanting, “look into my eyes.” But not any more! We are no longer seduced by the sensuality of sin and we are not moved by the deception and duplicity of the devil. Our eyes are on heavenly things (Colossians 3:2)! Dr.J.

“Gaining Weight!” by Dr.J.

“I don’t care what my personal trainer says! I’m eating these pancakes!”

And so we are sometimes with our spiritual trainer, the Holy Spirit! We just want to go ahead and satisfy the flesh “just one more time!” But as soon as we signed our contracts (became saved) and told Him (the Holy Spirit) we were ready for training, the Holy Spirit began working us out with a strict daily regimen. A part of that regimen involves submitting our diets and lifestyles to Him. We can’t continue to eat whatever we want (the fruit of the world) whenever we want. Our lifestyles can’t be to please the flesh, devouring the lusts and pleasures of this world!

But while in training, when the Spirit gives us guidelines for living, we must listen and act in accordance with those guidelines. If we are toiling and sweating too much throughout the work out, we are trying to do too much on our own! Let the Holy Spirit lessen the weight, “spot us” more closely, and coach us through our circumstances. Those pancakes though tasty and oh so satisfying may be to our detriment.

Our trainer knows exactly what we need when we need it! Let’s stop cheating ourselves, nibbling at the desires of the world, thus gaining the weight of the world and losing our souls (Mark 8:36). Dr.J.
